From your cruise ship, we drive 15 minutes along the beaches between Da Nang and Hoi An to visit Marble Mountain:
A cluster of five marble and limestone peaks arose from the sea million years ago to form Marble Mountains. There are numerous caves and tunnels, they were first used as a worshipping site for Hindu followers from the 10th century, and Buddhist monks from the 15th century. With local guide's commentary, you'll visit huge natural caves which were used by Vietnamese soldiers as hiding places and hospitals during Vietnam War, right next to American bases. You'll see centuries-old statues, Buddhist pagodas and temples. There are various points to admire beautiful views of river, ocean and islands.
After that, we will stop by at a 500-year-old carving village to view amazing sculptures made out of marble at the foot of the mountain.
After Marble Mountain, we'll drive 15 minutes to Hoi An ancient town, a HERITAGE SITE that was regconized by UNESCO in 1999. The city is fascinating with small alleyways where local life tucks in. The houses and temples are rustic, yet the streets are so colorful with lanterns outside local cafes and shops... The unique architecture here combines elements of Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese and French styles. With local guide's commentary, you'll learn more about the history and culture of this ancient trading port, dating back from the 15th to the 19th century. You'll wak along the river bank to see beautiful boats and river isalnds, beautiful houses with colonial styles.
After Hoi An old town, we'll drive a short distance to Tra Que vegetable village for lunch:
We'll have a quick stroll in the 300-year-old village where they grow many kinds of local vegetables. You'll have a chance to talk to local villagers working in their garden, smell amazing herbs, take beautiful pictures.
We then sit down in a lovely restaurant in the middle of the vegetable fields to have lunch. You'll enjoy the most delicious dishes with the freshest ingredients.
After lunch, we'll drive 30 minutes back to Tien Sa port and say goodbye at your cruise ship.
