You will be picked up from your hotel in Hyderabad in an air-conditioned vehicle. Your Heritage Walking tour will start at the Chaminar. This is the most iconic landmark in Hyderabad. Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah, the founder of Hyderabad, built Charminar in 1591 at the centre of the original city layout. It was built as a charm to ward off a deadly epidemic raging at that time. Four graceful minarets soar to a height of 160 feet.
Your walk will take you through the Laad Bazaar, a well known, colorful shopping center of the old city, tucked away in one of the streets leading away from Charminar. Bridal wear, Pearls and the traditional shiny lac bangles also called "Chudiyaan" are sold here. You will meet the craftsmen who create these glass and stone studded bangles that Hyderabad is known for.
Next, we walk into the courtyard of Mecca Masjid. This mosque, completed by Aurangzeb in 1694, is named for the bricks brought from Mecca to build the central arch.
The last stop on the tour will be the Chowmahalla Complex where we will trace the history of the Nizams of Hyderabad from the early 18th century to 1948. The complex comprises of four palaces in Mughal and European styles. The Nizams were well known for the grandeur and wealth. You’ll see the opulence with which this dynasty lived and ruled. Hear the numerous stories about the seven Nizams of Hyderabad whose destinies and decisions shaped the history and culture of this region. Walk through the imposing Durbar Hall and other rooms which display the Nizams’ rich history.
