About this experience

Visit Sanganer, a small town near Jaipur that is known the world over for its colorful textiles and handmade block printing designs. The colorful freshly dyed fabrics that are put out in the sun to dry, walls splashed with color and the smell of dyes are part of a unique and memorable experience. Visit a local factory and watch the artisans at work. You can even try your hand at block printing.

Detailed itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning for the half an hour drive to Sanganer. Upon arrival in Sanganer, visit a workshop and spend a few hours there learning the art of textile dyeing.

The various techniques - natural dyeing, block printing and tie and dye - date back to the 17th century and have been handed down generations. Watch the artisans at work as they transform white fabrics into colorful bedspreads and other items of household use. Take some time out to try your hand at the dyeing process and learn the unique art of block printing.

Enjoy lunch at the workshop and then continue with your initiation into the art of textile dyeing. The session ends at 5:30 p.m. after which you will be driven back to Jaipur and dropped off at your hotel.
