Stop 1

You will be picked up from your hotel in New Delhi in an air conditioned vehicle.  Your guide will escort you to Hauz Khas Village, a lovely blend of history and modernity in New Delhi. The area was first occupied by Alauddin Khilji who excavated the water tank which gave the place its name, Hauz Khas (Royal Tank).  As you enter the monuments complex, you will see a T-shaped building, made up of a long, colonnaded assembly hall that stretches from the north to the south. Next to it is the mosque, which would have been the place of prayer for those who lived and worked here. His tomb is the focal point of this complex.

As you walk. you will discover other monuments and pavilions throughout the gardens.  There are some tombs, containing the remains of teachers of the madrasa.

The walking tour will take you through the various monuments, tombs and the narrow colorful, lively lanes of the village. There will be time to do some shopping.  You will be driven back to your hotel in Delhi.
