About this experience

On this half-day tour take a look at some of the most famous sites of Mumbai, the financial capital of India and also its largest city. Known for its Bollywood industry, the city is home to one of the finest railway stations of India, a mosque that appears to stand in the middle of the sea and an historic Gateway on the waterfront. As you drive through the city, you will notice the vibrant energy of its people and a city that appears to be in constant motion.

Detailed itinerary

Stop 1

You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and taken for a half-day tour of the city accompanied by your guide for the day.

With a population of over 20 million, Mumbai has the distinction of being not only the most populous but also the wealthiest city in India.

Drive to the city’s busy railway station, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (previously known as Victoria Terminus).  A UNESCO World Heritage site, it is a blend of Gothic and Indian architectural styles. The central dome and the numerous pointed arches and turrets make it a well known facade of Mumbai.

Stop 2

Next drive to the Gateway of India, the unofficial icon of the city on the shores of the Arabian Sea. The majestic, arched structure made of basalt was built to commemorate the visit of King George V in 1911. It later became the symbolic entrance to India for British Viceroys and Governor-Generals. The beautiful facade of the Taj Mahal hotel can be seen in the backdrop.

Stop 3

Enjoy Marine Drive, the picturesque coastline of Mumbai that is also referred to as the Queen’s Necklace due to the beautiful sight it offers in the evening when the lights are lit.

Stop at the 200 year old Babulnath Temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva.

Stop 5

Continue your drive to Haji Ali mosque, another famous landmark of Mumbai. The mosque is located on a small islet off the southern shore of Mumbai. People of all religions flock to this mosque daily.

Stop 6

Next, drive to the biggest open-air laundry on the planet and watch the washer-men and women at work on the  slabs of graying stone.

At the end of the tour, enjoy lunch (beverage excluded) at a local restaurant. After lunch, you will be driven back to your hotel.
