About this experience

Cawnpore was an  important defense garrison of the British East India Company. The Cawnpore Cantonment was spread over an extent of six miles, in a semicircular form, along the banks of the river Ganges. Hundreds of colonial bungalows, residences of British officers, standing amidst well laid out gardens, interspersed with forest trees. The tour informs and details the brutal uprising against the British in the spring of 1857.

You will be picked up from your hotel within the city center in your air-conditioned vehicle.

On this exclusively curated tour you will learn about the sequence of the uprising and you will be taken through the areas that were the focus of the siege. You will be made to understand the origins of the uprisings of 1857 and understand, how this bloody siege progressed. At the end General Havelock freed Cawnpore from the rebels but by that point hundreds had lost their lives including civilian women and children. You tour includes a break with lunch refreshments (Beverage excluded).

Upon completion of the tour, you will be driven back to your hotel within the city center.
