You will be picked up from your hotel within the Lucknow city center and be escorted in your air-conditioned vehicle to Hazrat Ganj. Upon arrival meet your local guide and start your walking tour.
The Residency was the abode of the British Resident, appointed as an administrator of Oudh by The East India Company. The 33 acre area was a self-sufficient residential colony of British officers, their families and native servants. The Residency was a lively European settlement. In May 1857, it was the site of the dramatic events of the First War of Independence (Indian Uprising). Broken walls with marks from bullets and cannonballs are all that is left. You can visit the museum and cemetery. During your walking tour, your guide will help you reconstruct the ruins within the complex, with the help of some rare pictures, building plans and maps.
