About this experience

I am an architect who is knowledgeable about Tokyo's city, gardens and historical architectures.
I am also familiar with the famous autumn leaves' spots, and will take you to must-see places and photo spots to experience the beautiful autumn leaves's scenery in Tokyo from the morning to the night over 11 hours. The progress of the autumn leaves and the illuminations dates may change depending to the year. In that case, I will change the route to take you to other locations suitable to visit. Let's enjoy autumn in Tokyo together.

Koishikawa Koraku-en Garden (Red - Japanese maple)
One of the most beautiful places to see autumn leaves of Japanese maple in Tokyo. This historical garden was created in 1629, and the spots likening to famous Japanese and Chinese famous places are along with beautiful Japanese maple around ponds and streams. We walk around the garden, following the beautiful autumn leaves’ spots. See the photo of 1, 2, 3.

University of Tokyo (Yellow - Gingko)
The campus of Japan's top university is lined with endless rows of ginkgo trees with yellow leaves, creating a beautiful combination with the historic buildings. We walk around the ginkgo trees avenues and plan to have a lunch at a nice restaurant in the campus. Lunch time is not included in the 40 minutes. See the photo of 4, 5.

Meiji Shrine Outer Garden (Yellow - Gingko)
It is historic ginkgo tree-lined avenue. The combination of the ginkgo tree-lined avenue with Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery as an eyestop is a representative autumn scene in Tokyo. We walk around from the entrance to the end point to enjoy the scenery. It is usually illuminated at night although sometimes it is cancelled.
To enhance the perspective effect, the height of the ginkgo trees at the entrance and the back differs by 10m. See the photo of 6, 7.

Stop 4

Shinjuku Gyo-en Imperial Garden (Red、Yellow、Brown - Japanese maple, Gingko, Japanese Zelkova, Japanese Oak, etc)
The garden of a samurai's residence became the Imperial garden, and was opened to the public after the war.
We walk around a Japanese garden with Japanese maple grove, the central ponds with a beautiful combination of autumn leaves and landscape, and the trivial woods forest full of various colored autumn leaves that is hard to believe you're in the city. See the phot of 8, 9, 10.

The street connecting Tokyo Station and the Imperial Palace is lined with ginkgo trees, and when viewed from the Imperial Palace side, Tokyo Station can be seen standing as eyestop. At night, part of the ginkgo tree line and the trees lining Marunouchi's main street are illuminated and decorated with winter illuminations. We walk around both streets at dusk when the illuminations start to light up. See the phot of 11, 12.

Rikugi-en Gardens (Red - Japanese maple)
It is a garden established in the early 18th century. Along with Koishikawa Koraku-en garden, it is one of Tokyo's most representative historical gardens, with spots likening to famous Japanese and Chinese famous places. It is famous for its illuminations during the autumn leaves season.
We walk around the beautifully illuminated pond in the center of the garden and the illuminated maple forest at the back. See the phot of 13, 14.

Meiji Shrine Outer Garden (Yellow - Gingko)
We visit here to see the illuminated the ginkgo tree-lined avenue. See the photo of 15.

Stop 8

Goto Museum (Various color - Various kinds of tree) (Depending on the autumn leaves conditions of the above spots 1 to 7, we may visit here)
Part of the residence of a major Japanese businessman has become a museum displaying his collection of Japanese art, and the garden , which makes use of the slopes of a river terrace and has the atmosphere of a mountain village, is also open to the public. We stroll the wonderful garden with various colored autumn leaves, going up and down the slope. See the photo of 16.

Joshin-ji Temple (Red、Yellow - Japanese maple, Gingko)
(Depending on the autumn leaves conditions of the above spots 1 to 7, we may visit here) This historical temple, which enshrines nine Buddha statues, is famous from many autumn leaves and large Japanese zelkova trees, attracting many visitors during the autumn foliage season. We walk around the garden with some shrines, a large Ginko trees and other colored autumn leaves' trees. See the photo of 17.

Kyu-Furukawa Gardens (Red - Japanese maple)

The garden of the residence of a prewar financial combine's owner is open to the public now. It consists of a rose garden and a Japanese garden, and the autumn leaves in the Japanese garden are wonderful. Depending on the year, the roses are in bloom until the autumn leaves season. Otaguro Park (Red、Yellow - Japanese maple, Gingko)

The garden of a famous music critic's residence is open to the public now. The colored leaves of the rows of ginkgo trees and the Japanese maples around the pond and stream are beautiful. The illumination is famous. We visit here at night and walk around the illuminated gardens. See the photo of 20, 21.

Showa Memoriał Park (Red、Yellow - Japanese maple, Gingko)

A wide variety of trees and flowers are planted in this vast park. The illuminated rows of ginkgo trees and the illuminated maple leaves in the Japanese garden are famous. We visit here in the evening and walk around the illuminated ginkgo trees and Japanese garden. See the photo of 22, 23.

Roppongi Hills (Brown - Japanese Zelkova)
(Depending on the autumn leaves conditions of the above spots 1 to 7, we may visit here)
In the season when the Zelkova trees lining Roppongi Hills turn brown, the Christmas illumination is decorated on the trees. We walk along the tree-lined street with a view of Tokyo Tower beyond. See the photo of 24.

Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum (Red - Japanese maplex)
(Depending on the autumn leaves conditions of the above spots 1 to 7, we may visit here) In this museum, which was the residence of the imperial family until the end of the war, Japan's finest Art Deco historical architecture and gardens in 1920's remain. The gardens are composed of a Western-style garden and a Japanese garden, in keeping with the style of that time. The Japanese garden is not very large, but is a beautiful place to view autumn leaves. After walking through the gardens, participants can also visit the Art Deco museum, depending on their request. When we visit the museum, the time will be more than 40 minutes.  See the photo of 25.

Institute for Nature Study (Various color - Various kinds of tree)

This large green space belonging to the National Museum of Nature and Science has been left largely untouched, preserving the natural scenery of the place's past, making it hard to believe it's in downtown Tokyo. We walk along the trails that wind through the woods, ponds and marshes, and enjoy a natural autumn landscape that is different from the landscapes of manicured gardens. See the photo of 26.
