Located on a small rocky archipelago in the Beagle Channel, just 5 nautical miles from Ushuaia, Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse is one of the most photographed landmarks in Tierra del Fuego. Its name means ‘The Explorers’ in French, and it was inaugurated in 1920. It is still in operation today, fully automated.

Stop 3
We depart from Ushuaia’s tourist pier, sailing through the bay to reach the Beagle Channel via Paso Chico.
We visit Bird Island, home to Fuegian birds such as albatrosses, skuas, geese, and gulls, and Sea Lion Island, where we observe both one-hair and two-hair sea lions.
We arrive at the iconic Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse, surrounded by cormorants and history, including the Monte Cervantes shipwreck from 1930.
Sailing east, we spot Puerto Almanza (Argentina) and Puerto Williams (Chile), before reaching Martillo Island, where Magellanic and Gentoo penguins await us.
On the return journey, we sail along the northern coast, observing native flora and historic sites like Estancia Túnel and the Monte Sarmiento steamship, partially sunk since 1912.

During our tour, we will stop in front of Isla de los Pájaros, a small rocky island that is part of Tierra del Fuego National Park. This island is home to an impressive number of seabirds, including:
Imperial cormorants and black-necked cormorants
Southern gulls and kelp gulls
Skuas (southern hunting birds)
On occasion, it is possible to see Magellanic penguins in the nearby waters.
