Start the day by swimming above a reef and then with turtles in their natural environment, guided by a certified expert. Next, visit the Mayan archaeological ruins at Tulum, one of Mexico's most iconic sites, with ruins perched on a clifftop above the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Drive through Tulum, where you’ll see the unique architecture and textiles of this rapidly expanding Bohemian town, before enjoying lunch at a place recommended by your guide. Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

You will swim with turtles in the Caribbean, in the protected marine preserve at Akumal, Mayan for 'land of the turtles'. Respecting all the rules of the park to protect the turtles, you will be accompanied by both a locally accredited guide who specializes in the turtles and your tour guide for the day, recording video of you during the experience. You must wear a lifejacket (included), cannot wear flippers, have a floating ring if desired. You will, wind-dependent, board a boat for 3-5 minutes to arrive at the coral reef where you will then swim for approximately five minutes, before swimming to the protected area. You will then swim in the area where the turtles visit for approx 45 minutes, perhaps also seeing manta rays and other sealife.

2
Stop 2

You will visit the Mayan archaeological site at Tulum, unique for being such an important site located directly on the coast and with some of the most iconic views in Mexico, ruins on cliffs above a beach and the turquoise Caribbean. Your tour guide for the day will explain the architecture, culture and history of the Mayans both generally and at Tulum specifically. You will see lots of iguanas and your guide will take photos for you throughout the tour, which will all be shared with you at the end of the day. A tour of the site typically lasts approximately one hour.

3

Driving from the archaeological site along the coastal road, your guide will point out and explain the local architectural and fashion styles that have developed in this booking bohemian tourist town, perhaps visiting a couple of iconic businesses who best showcase these styles. You will then stop for lunch at a location determined based on your preferred style and budget, decided on the day. This might be tacos away from the beach, or a visit to a beach club, typically with emblematic Tulum-style design, a pool and access to the beach and sea.

What's not included

The tour does not include lunch. The guide will make a recommendation of a restaurant or beach club after understanding your preferred tastes and budget.
