About this experience

Operated by Senor Travel Bug, this is a unique experience touring in a one-of-a-kind classic VW Beetle, the most iconic car in Mexico. You will not find another tour like this one in Cancun. You will see four sides of life in Cancun (1) High-end seafood restaurant on the Caribbean frequented by affluent locals (2) Mid-to-high end seafood restaurant on the shore of Laguna Nichupte, frequented by locals (some docking their yachts to eat) and visitors (3) a taco restaurant in the heart of Cancun's hotel zone, frequented by many overseas tourists (4) sweet street food in the heart of downtown Cancun, visited by locals with their families and mostly Mexican tourists. Your guide, a former professional photographer, will take photos throughout your experience and share them with you afterwards.

Detailed itinerary

1

This first stop is in Puerto Juarez, currently a candidate to be one of the first 'barrios magicos' (magic neighbourhoods) in the country, as this was where Cancun 'existed' before Cancun was built in the 1970s. We'll eat ceviche and enjoy a drink in Marbella, a hidden gem of a seafood restaurant overlooking the Caribbean just 2-3 yards away.

2

Our second stop, after a half-hour cruise in the Classic racing-car painted VW beetle, will be at a restaurant overlooking the Laguna Nichupte, sat on a sand beach, where we'll try the 'pescadillas' (lcoally famed fish empanadas) or vegetarian alternative, and have a drink.

3

After a ten-minute drive, being photographed and videoed by passers-by in the VW Beetle, our third stop will be in the heart of the Zona Hotelera, where we'll soak up the atmosphere, while eating tacos al pastor, a Mexican national institution of a dish alongside another drink.

4
Stop 4

After a further 20 minutes in the classic VW Beetle, our fourth and final stop will be in a large square frequented by the locals and national tourists every evening, together with their families. We'll wander around, your guide explaining each of the local dishes on offer at this street food market and entertainment venue and enjoy a 'marquesita', a crispy pancake fileld with fruits and Edam cheese, a dish unique to this region of Mexico.
