We will start the tour from Ficocella Beach, so called due to the characteristic presence of fig plants. This beach is known for the distinction between the "men's ficocella" and the "women's ficocella." During the visit, we will observe these two areas and explain the origins of this curious subdivision, which has its roots in local traditions and historical seaside practices of the area.
We will visit the five most extreme capes of Capo Palinuro, along the coast characterized by the presence of several Aragonese towers. In particular, we will observe Punta Fortino, used in the past as a hideout for weapons and food, and Punta Quaglia, known for the passage of quails. Furthermore, we will visit the Blue Grotto, the largest in Europe, which owes its fame to the light refraction effect generated by an underwater tunnel. This phenomenon creates spectacular plays of blue light inside the cave, making it a one-of-a-kind natural wonder.
We will admire the beauty of the Capo Palinuro lighthouse, one of the most important in the world due to its 202 meters of altitude difference. It is one of the few remaining radio beacons, adding further historical and maritime value to our visit. Not only crucial for maritime navigation, but also for the orientation of military aircraft.
We will stop at a strategic point from which we will be able to observe the Grotta dei Monaci, the Grotta Sulfurea and the Architiello from the outside. Subsequently, we can take a bath in Cala Fetente, which owes its name to the sulphurous fumes. These waters offer benefits on the lungs and skin, making the experience not only suggestive but also healthy.
You will have the opportunity to swim in "Cilento Thailand", a beach elected for 4 consecutive years as the most beautiful in Italy. During the tour, you will discover what its suggestive name is due to. You can enjoy the experience to the fullest with our snorkeling equipment, exploring the underwater wonders of this marine paradise.
