About this experience

Kayak to the land mark of the Auckland region while the sun is slowly setting over Auckland and the Waitakere Ranges.

We pull our kayaks up to Rangitoto wharf before embarking on a 1 hour leisurely walk to the summit where you will be treated to the best sunset location Auckland has to offer.

Under the guidance of your professional guide we paddle back in the dark watching the city lights sparkle like stars.

This tour is fully catered with all kayaking equipment provided.

Before you leave the mainland, check and clean your gear.
Check that your gear is free of rats, mice, ants and skinks - especially camping gear which has ideal places for them to hide when stored.
Take extra care to clean gear if you have Argentine ants or plague skinks where you live.
Clean clothing, footwear and camping gear, removing soil and seeds before and after each trip.
Look out for cleaning stations at the pier and scrub your shoes before boarding.
Do not bring your pets.

We do offer a free city pick up from the Atrium Auckland Museum and this needs to be communicated to us at time of booking see https://www.aucklandseakayaks.co.nz/city-pick-up-location/. Pickup is 30 minutes before trip start time.

• Comfortable walking shoes and shorts to kayak in are required
Note jeans, cotton trousers are not appropriate for this tour.
• Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there is not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
• Due to the nature of this tour and the safety of all guests, the tour operator reserves the right to refuse service to passengers who are intoxicated or show signs of intoxication. If, as a result, your tour is canceled, you will not be entitled to a refund.
• Not recommended for participants with heart complaints or other serious medical conditions
• Fitness Required: Moderate. Must be able to hike 2.5 km (1.5 miles) rising 270 meters (900 feet)

Note: pickup at the museum takes place 30 minutes prior to your trip start time.
