About this experience

Get to travel different cities within Kenya from the eyes of an artist. The sketch tour experience allows you to soak in moments as you sketch what you see. The tour allows you to visit cultural and monumental spaces which in turn allows you to see the local culture and interact with it. It is perfect for if you want to see authentic local culture (less touristy places) The tour lasts for up to 2.5 hours allowing you time to relax for the better part of the day. No prior drawing experience is needed but all art supplies will be provided. Specific tour locations could be organized upon request.

Stop 1

Visit the Colonial Identification registration centre. Get to see the early architecture and learn more about the kipande system( colonial identification)

Get to see and shop at the local market and grab great merchandise. See the wonderful mural artwork done by local university students. Interact with some of the sellers and buy souvenirs from the local shops.

Stop 3

Glimpse at one of the oldest public universities in Kenya. Learn about its cultural significance in shaping the city of Nairobi. You also get to sketch the wonderful architecture it has to offer.

Stop 4

Sketch an iconic piece of history as one of the first police stations situated next to a highrise. Get to know why constructing buildings was a point of contention from the early government and the history it holds.

Get to see and sketch Artists practicing their masterpieces, plays, and theatrical pieces. You will get to see the training ground of Hollywood star "Lupita Nyongo" who starred in 12 years a slave. Plays are occassionally staged here and entrance fee to see them is not included as part of the tour.
