About this experience

I'm a Tour Leader for almost 10 years of experience. For years I have been guiding visitors from all over the world to discover Sorrento. The tour starts from Piazza Tasso dedicated to the famous writer Torquato Tasso, a short distance from Piazza Tasso is the nineteenth-century Albergo Vittoria, here some famous artists stayed there such as the famous Neapolitan tenor Enrico Caruso, a few steps from the square you can admire the the ancient Vallone dei Mulini, is a valley born from the eruption of the Campi Flegrei. Today it is an abandoned place where there is rich vegetation. Sorrento's most important attraction is the Cathedral with a beautiful 19th century wooden choir inside. After the visit to the Duomo the tour continues in the beautiful historic center of Sorrento, the oldest part of Sorrento with beautiful artisan shops, here it is possible to taste the typical products. The tour ends in the Panoramic Terrace where you can admire a beautiful view of the Gulf of Naples.

Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

On the panoramic terrace of Sorrento it is possible to admire the most beautiful panorama of the Sorrento Peninsula, it is also possible to visit the cloister and the Church of San Francesco, among the most beautiful in Sorrento. The eighteenth-century church is annexed to the convent building, whose prominent element is the cloister. One of the oldest monuments in Sorrento, built on the remains of a 7th century monastery, the cloister blends the typically 14th century style with that of subsequent eras. The cloister was restored in the first decades of the twentieth century and today is the location for classical music concerts.

2

Via San Cesareo di Sorrento is the historic center of Sorrento, with artisan shops, restaurants, and limoncello factories, an ideal place to taste the typical products of Sorrento, furthermore Via San Cesareo also hosts the Sedile Dominova, an ancient fifteenth-century loggia with a square plan with a beautiful seventeenth century dome. Inside it is possible to admire architectural elements and coats of arms of illustrious Sorrento families

3
Stop 3

Marina Grande, the oldest fishing village in Sorrento. The entrance to Marina Grande is the ancient gateway, a double arched portal, made of tuff and limestone, built in pre-Roman times. Today Marina Grande is an area with many restaurants surrounded by the beautiful panorama of the Gulf of Naples. Marina Grande is also home to the Church of Sant'Anna built by local fishermen in honor of Sant'Anna, protector of women giving birth.

4

The Cathedral of Sorrento built between the 9th and 10th centuries dedicated to the Holy Apostles Philip and James, was originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary of the Assumption.
The Cathedral stands out for the fascinating fusion between Baroque and Sorrento inlay
In addition to the Cathedral, it includes the sixteenth-century archbishop's palace and the iconic bell tower.
Located on the ancient Byzantine decumanus (currently Via Pietà), it features ancient marble elements, including part of a Lombard epigraph.
During the eighteenth century, the last two floors were added to the bell tower, completed with a majolica clock.
