Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Central Java, Indonesia, stands out for several reasons. Constructed from gray andesite-like stone, it features nine stacked platforms six square, and three circulars crowned by a central dome. The temple is adorned with an astonishing 2,672 relief panels and originally housed 504 Buddha statues. As you explore its extensive system of stairways and corridors, you’ll encounter 1,460 narrative relief panels that depict the Buddha’s teachings and life
(Optional) Visit Mount Merapi, which is the second most active volcano in the world. We will visit a local museum that showcases the remnants of the 2010 eruption, the largest eruption since 1872.
