According to legend, the local seamen made an oath to the icon of Madonna and Child which was found on a rock in the sea. They laid a rock in the Bay upon return from each successful voyage, and over time the small island emerged. Today, you can find the Church of Our Lady of the Rocks on the island. The church contains over 70 works of art, among them the ten-meters long, The Death of the Virgin. The island is accesible by a short boat ride. Alternatively, feel free to explore the town of Perast during your free time here.
