The lake, created in 1955 through community effort, and the park's layout, envisioned by architect Valentina Pistoli, now host memorials, an amphitheater, and the city's only zoo.

The park is rich in biodiversity, featuring a variety of trees, shrubs, birds, and other wildlife. Managed by the Agency of Parks and Recreation since 2015, it offers a range of activities and is a beloved urban oasis for residents and visitors alike.
