Your driver-guide will take you to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a powerful and somber site that honors the victims of the 1994 genocide. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it serves as a place of remembrance, education, and reflection on Rwanda’s history. Entry is free, but for a deeper understanding, an audio guide is available for $20—an insightful addition that also helps support the memorial’s work. Please remember to dress appropriately for this solemn visit.

At the Kandt House Museum, you will explore Rwanda’s journey through three fascinating sections. The first presents life in pre-colonial Rwanda, the second focuses on the colonial period and the legacy of Dr. Richard Kandt, and the third showcases Rwanda’s natural treasures and the transformation of Kigali into today’s vibrant capital.

For a beautiful scenic view of the entire city, Mount Kigali offers it all. This mountain is where Kigali got its name, and from the top, you can see the Nyabarongo River as well as breathtaking views of the Southern Province.

In Biryogo, we’ll take a leisurely walk through the lively, car-free zone, soaking in the atmosphere of bustling cafés and street vendors. It’s the perfect spot to experience Kigali’s social scene and see how locals gather to relax and connect.

At the Belgian Peacekeepers Memorial, you will learn the story of the ten Belgian UN soldiers who were killed at the start of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi while protecting Prime Minister Agathe Uwilingiyimana. The memorial is a place of reflection and remembrance, honoring their sacrifice and highlighting Rwanda’s history as part of the wider world.

Here at Imbuga City Walk, you’ll enjoy a lively stroll through Kigali’s vibrant pedestrian street, where people walk, socialize, and soak in the city’s charm. Along the way, we can stop at various gift shops before reaching the iconic Kigali signage-a perfect spot for photos and memories.
