About this experience

With this Tour you are able to leave in search of the contrasts provided by the valleys, streams and peaks of the island. You get to see picturesque places such as São Domingos and Assomada. You have the chance to visit the botanical garden at São Jorge. Visit the prison of Tarrafal and discover its history, followed by free time to take a bath in the beautiful Bay of Tarrafal.

At 60km from Praia, you will visit Assomada, an important trading point, to visit its famous and typical market (opened on Wednesdays and Saturdays).

The journey continues through Serra Malagueta Park, with its beautiful eucalyptus forest, different kinds of acacias and other endemic plants. A perfect place to take some beautiful pictures.

You will then reach Tarrafal, a fishing village, where a former concentration camp (now a museum) is located. There, it will be possible to visit the bay, surrounded by palm trees, which is one of the most famous beaches of Cabo Verde.
Lunch will be served at a typical restaurant. You are welcomed for a swim in the beautiful bay, after lunch.

On the way back you will be able to see small bays and groves and deserted beaches with black sand. There will be a stop at the Rabelados village, a community that rebelled against society and church in the colonial time, and keeps their unique traditions. There you will see their paintings and learn about their culture.
