About this experience

This is a deep dive into the world of Dali. We'll draw a full picture with in-depth explanations. We visit the two towns where he grew up so we go to his roots and follow his footsteps; “Figueres”, his birthplace, with the iconic museum and the town of “Cadaqués”, known as the "Pearl of the Costa Brava", an idyllic Mediterranean-style fisherman´s village, surrounded by a protected nature reserve (Cap de Creus) famous for its unique rock formations, an area which fueled Dalí´s imagination. This typical Dalinian scenery will make you feel like you are stuck inside one of his paintings.

We conclude with a visit to Dali´s house at the "Portlligat Bay", Dali & Gala´s own private paradise.

We offer the best possible Dalí-tour to make you shine like Dalí´s mustache!

Detailed itinerary

1

8.30 AM Start of the tour and leaving Barcelona city. Relax, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Hotel pickups will take place between 8:00 and 8:30 (30min approx.) and we'll drive about 90min to get to our first destination

2
Stop 2 Pass by

On our way out we cross this famous part of the city full of landmarks and beautiful architecture

3
Stop 3

10AM approx. Our first stop is Figueres , Dali's birthplace, housing the world's largest and most significant collection of his works in the iconic Dali Theatre-Museum. This is, most likely, unlike any museum you have ever been to! It's a trip , a living hallucination, we step into Dali's surreal world of imagination. This masterpiece, "the biggest surrealist monument ever made" , was fully designed and decorated by the man himself and offers you a walk through his life. You'll get in-depth commentary from your expert guide in the morning, and after a brief introduction inside the museum you're free to explore, wonder, and get lost in Dalí’s imagination at your own pace. We want to leave room for personal interpretation, something that the artist gave a lot of importance to.

4

We spend the morning in this small and lovely city close to the French border. It has a long history that goes all the way back to the Middle Ages, when the town was founded in the 9th C. There are several squares, lovely little streets with shops, a beautiful ´Rambla´ promenade apart from several homages to Dali in the old city which can all be explored in your own free time. In total we spend about 2,5 hours here, including the time for your visit to the museum.

5
Stop 5 Pass by

During our drive we will cross this mountainous protected National Park which surrounds the town of Cadaqués. It will provide us with spectacular views over the area of the Empordà, the beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava and we will probably see the Pyrenees mountains in the distance. Pay close attention to the scenery and you will find many elements that fueled his imagination...

6

1.30PM And yes, we have arrived to Cadaqués! This is, in our opinion here at Joyous Tours, the jewel of the Costa Brava. It´s such a stunning and well preserved old fisherman´s village with white-washed houses, very Mediterranean. You get plenty of free time to enjoy a Mediterranean lunch with some of the freshest fish and seafood and to do some exploring in the village

7
Stop 7

3.30PM After a delightful lunch we will take the scenic route through the protected National Park of Cap de Creus, to show you a bit more of this unique landscape, as we make our way to the stunning Portlligat Bay. This was the most inspirational place in the whole world for Dalí and the place where most of his famous paintings were made. This is where we'll find his house and studio, Dali and Gala´s own private little paradise. We´ll be guided through the house, we walk into his studio and later we can spend free time in the garden as well. Then we head back to BCN. During our drive back to the city you can digest all these new impressions, relive this unique experience in our minds or simply grab a quick snooze.

8

7PM approx. We arrive to Barcelona. We bring you back to your accommodations and we conclude a memorable day. Hopefully it made you shine like Dalí´s mustache!!
