It is a historical a mausoleum of a minister in the Mughal court Itimad-ud-Daulah (earlier known as Mir Gheyas Beg) who was the father of Nur Jahan, the wife of Jahangir. He was later also made a minister & a trusted treasurer in Akbar's court. It was as a tribute to him, that Nur Jahan built this mausoleum after his death.
