About this experience

When people describe Skopje, they frequently use the term open-air museum. And it’s not without a reason. Skopje is ornated with historical buildings, old remaining’s, bridges, statues, churches, mosques and many more.

When arriving in Skopje our tour guide will enlighten you with the rich stories about the city, while walking through the beautiful landmarks. Experience Skopje from top to bottom, beginning at the Kale fortress and ending at the old train station. Moreover, you will see the famous square Macedonian square, the stone bridge, the old bazaar, mosques and the church St. Spas known for her particular iconostasis and remarkable fresco paintings.

Afterwards, you will have free time to roam the vibrant city by yourself, where you can visit the scars of the earthquake of 1963 and enter the forged house of non-other than holy Mother Teresa.

Detailed itinerary

Stop 1

Arriving in Skopje, the guided tour will start on top of fortress Kale. Here you can enjoy a panoramic view over the city of Skopje and the surrounding mountains.

Enter the 16th old church of Sveti Spas, where you can see beautiful iconostasis and fresco's.
Here you learn the old religious history of the country. Furthermore, you will visit the old turkish bazaar and turkish part of the city.

Stop 3

Walking down towards the main square, the tour will enter the old Bazaar. This old Ottoman quarter, Čaršija, retains its medieval charm with narrow cobblestone streets, bridges, bazaars, and mosques. Experience this cultural difference with the grand monuments, neoclassicist buildings and bronze statues.

Take a walk around the most famous square of North Macedonia and encounter plenty of statues in this open air museum, while enriching yourself with the large history of this country.
You will also encounter plenty of fascinating architectural buildings, such as museums, towers and the famous stone bridge. Don't forget to take plenty of pictures.

Stop 5

Before visiting the reconstructed house of Mother Theresa, you will encounter the old train station which was partly destroyed by the earthquake. In the memorial house of mother Theresa you will learn about her and her life in Skopje. Furthermore, you will visit the famous street 'Makedonija'.

NOTE: We will not enter, however the guide will show you it's location and explain you the life of mother Theresa. During the free time you will have the option to visit this memorial house. Entrance is free of charge.

Free time to roam in this city and do whatever you like, taking pictures, having their own lunch, drink coffee, walk around, and visit the Museum you want (optional) or buy souvenirs. You can also visit the memorial house of mother Theresa.

Afterwards you will meet with the guide on the spot that he / she pointed out.
