Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

The Giant’s Causeway and Causeway Coast is a spectacular area of global geological importance on the sea coast. It is an area of approximately 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption or the result of a conflict between two mythological giants.

2
Stop 2

Stop to take in the views of Dunluce Castle, a ruined medieval castle located in County Antrim. It is situated on the very steep and rocky clifftops of Bushmills and Portrush, connected to the mainland via a bridge. It was built sometime between the 1400s and 1600s and was one of the finest castles on the Coast. It was used to film "Castle Greyjoy" in the TV show, Game of Thrones.

3
Stop 3

Perched atop a dramatic cliff on Northern Ireland's rugged Antrim coast, Kinbane Castle captures the imagination of visitors with its striking location and rich history. Built in 1547 by Colla MacDonnell, this small two-story castle once served as a strategic stronghold for the MacDonnell clan.

4
Stop 4

Enjoy the trip down to the small Ballintoy fishing harbour, located on the Atlantic Ocean, offering breathtaking views of the coastal attractions. Take the time out to sample homemade Irish fare in the picturesque and quaint Ballintoy Harbour Café, or enjoy some coffee with cake.

Ballintoy Harbour will take you on a trip back in time. Explore the rocks with your kids, relax while watching birds and boats go by, walk along the cliff path, or get your feet wet at the water steps.
When the harbour became a Game of Thrones filming location, its popularity hit the roof. It is the Game of Thrones filming location for Lordsport, the main port of Pyke. One of the Iron Islands, Pyke is the home of Theon and Yara Greyjoy.

5

Gortmore is a stunning Viewpoint is situated on the Bishop's Road, on the Binevenagh Loop which is part of the Causeway Coastal Route. On a clear day breathtaking views extend across to Donegal and the islands of Islay and Jura off the west coast of Scotland. Picnic facilities are available.

Downhill Beach is the start of a 7 mile beach which stretches from the base of the cliffs below Mussenden Temple to the far western point of the Causeway Coast at Magilligan Point including Benone Strand. Watch out for trains heading along the coast and through the tunnel in the cliffside.

7

The Royal Portrush Golf Club was founded in 1888 as The County Club. It became The Royal County Club in 1892 under the patronage of the Duke of York and assumed its present name in 1895 under the patronage of the Prince of Wales. The Dunluce Links has hosted the Open Championship on three occasions in 1951, 2019 and 2025.
