1

Oshino Hakkai is a historic and picturesque village located near Mount Fuji in Japan. The name "Oshino Hakkai" translates to "Eight Ponds of Oshino." The site is known for its eight clear spring ponds, fed by the snowmelt from Mount Fuji. These ponds are revered for their crystal-clear water, which is believed to have originated from the mountain.

2

The Chureito Pagoda is a five-storied pagoda located in the Arakurayama Sengen Park in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. It is a popular and iconic landmark that offers stunning views of Mount Fuji in the background.

Visitors can climb up a series of stairs to reach the Chureito Pagoda, and from its vantage point, they can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of Mount Fuji, especially during the cherry blossom season in spring when the pagoda is framed by cherry blossoms.

3
Stop 3

Lake Kawaguchiko is a serene and picturesque lake located in the Fuji Five Lakes region at the base of Mount Fuji. It's famed for its stunning reflections of Mt. Fuji, vibrant seasonal flowers, and hot spring resorts. Visitors can enjoy leisurely boat rides, lakeside hiking, and breathtaking views of cherry blossoms or autumn leaves. This destination is a perfect blend of natural beauty and tranquil leisure.

4
Stop 4

Oishi Park is a popular lakeside park located on the northern shores of Lake Kawaguchi, which is one of the Fuji Five Lakes near Mount Fuji in Japan. The park offers breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and serves as a picturesque spot for visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the region.

Oishi Park is known for its well-manicured gardens, open spaces, and walking paths along the lake. The park is particularly famous for its cherry blossoms in spring, creating a stunning backdrop with Mount Fuji. Visitors can also enjoy seasonal flowers, such as tulips and lavender, depending on the time of year.

The park provides a tranquil setting for relaxation, picnics, and photography, making it a popular destination for those exploring the Lake Kawaguchi area and wanting to take in the scenic beauty of Mount Fuji.

5

The Hakone Sightseeing Cruise offers sightseeing boats that sail around Lake Ashinoko, a popular spot in Hakone. There are three boats: Royal II, Victory, and Queen Ashinoko, and passengers can board the cruise at any of the three ports along the edge of the lake

6
Stop 6

The Guinness Book of World Records has acknowledged the Hakone Ropeway as the most-ridden ropeway in the world. People use the ropeway to visit the steaming vents of Owakudani and travel between Gora and Togendai on Lake Ashi.

7

Owakudani is the area around a crater created during the last eruption of Mount Hakone some 3000 years ago. Today, much of the area is an active volcanic zone where sulfurous fumes, hot springs, and hot rivers can be experienced. Additionally, Owakudani has good views of Mount Fuji.
Eggs cooked in Owakudani's hot spring pools with their shells blackened by the sulfur are on sale at shops in the area, and eating one is said to prolong one's life by seven years.

A short walking trail leads from the ropeway station into the volcanic zone to several steam vents and bubbling pools.

8
Stop 8

The Hakone Open Air Museum successfully attempts to create a harmonic balance of nature and art by exhibiting various sculptures on its grounds in combination with views of the surrounding valley and mountains.

The museum has various sections and exhibition spaces outdoors and indoors. The Picasso Exhibition Hall is one such space and showcases two stories of paintings, sculptures and ceramic works by the artist and photos of him at various points during his life.

9

Hakone Shrine stands at the foot of Mount Hakone along the shores of Lake Ashinoko. The shrine buildings are hidden in the dense forest but are well advertised by its huge torii gates, one standing prominently in the lake and two others over the main street of Moto-Hakone.

A path leads from the torii gate in Lake Ashinoko up a series of steps flanked by lanterns through the forest to the main building, which sits peacefully among the tall trees. The shrine is beautiful throughout the year, and is particularly breathtaking when shrouded in mist.
