Cavtat is a town on the Adriatic Coast of Croatia, southeast of Dubrovnik. It’s known for its beaches, and the many ancient Illyrian necropolises dotted around the area. Near the tree-lined Cavtat harbor is the Rector’s Palace, a Renaissance mansion that displays the manuscript collection of 19th-century scientist Baltazar Bogišić.
The picturesque charming town of Cavtat is possibly the most famous place in Konavle region and it is situated only 18 km from Dubrovnik. Its best kept secret is the old town centre that hides many lovely cafés and restaurants. It has a stunning waterfront lined with palm trees and has been described as closely resembling Saint Tropez.
Cavtat is not a place for those seeking clubs and wild nights. It is a place to relax and recharge your batteries while enjoying gorgeous scenery, food and wine. Life goes by slowly in this part of the world, a quality which made this place a desirable destination for a proper laid-back vacation.

Sokol tower is the Dubrovnik Republic's defensive fortress strategically situated at the border with former Ottoman Empire. It is located in the village Dunave, more precisely on a 25 meters high inaccessible rock. The tower was known long before the Republic came into its possession. Continuity of life around the tower can be traced from prehistory. In the Late Antiquity the tower was used as a defense tower for the Konavle region against the outer enemies. The Dubrovnik Republic came into its possession in the early 15th century and stayed its ruler until the end of the 17th century, more precisely until year 1667 when more than a half of Dubrovnik was destroyed in a devastating earthquake. For the next 300 years the tower was destined to fall into utter decay, close to oblivion. Thanks to the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities, which came into its possession in 1966, the tower was renovated and in 2013 opened to public.
Mills and fulling mills of Konavle region are located in the protected natural landscape of river Ljuta. The Dubrovnik Republic started to intensify the development of agriculture, especially grain cultivation for an increasing number of its population after the consolidation of power in Konavle region in the second half of the 15th century. Due to this the number of mills increased. Finally, by the 19th century it reached the total of 15 mills and fulling mills. Mills and fulling mills can be roughly divided into Upper and Lower Mills, depending on which side of the river they are situated. Thanks to the work of the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities, this important industrial monument has been renovated.
