Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

Towering 70 meters above its emerald basin, the Materuni Waterfall is among the highest and most breathtaking in the region. Fed by glacial streams, its waters plunge through lush highland forest at 2,500 meters above sea level. The trail to the falls meanders through fertile slopes rich with banana, coffee, and avocado farms—locally called “shambas.” After savoring a traditional local lunch, your adventure continues to the Chemka Hot Springs. The ride—about 40 minutes—winds along a rugged road through rural landscapes. Once there, you can swim in the crystal-clear geothermal pools, lounge under the trees, enjoy a relaxed lunch, or even request a barbecue as you soak. Groups larger than 10 guests enjoy special discounted rates.

2

This breathtaking waterfall ranks among the tallest in the region, cascading dramatically through lush valleys and rolling hills blanketed in tropical rainforest. As it flows, it weaves past vibrant “shambas”—the Swahili term for small farms—where coffee, banana, and avocado trees flourish in the fertile soil. The combination of natural beauty and cultivated land creates a stunning contrast, offering a vivid snapshot of rural life harmonizing with raw wilderness. Whether you're drawn by the sound of rushing water, the emerald green of the forest, or the charm of the surrounding farms, this waterfall promises a truly memorable experience in one of Tanzania’s most enchanting landscapes.

3

Leave the lush trails of Materuni Waterfalls behind as you journey toward Maji Moto, a hidden oasis far from the usual tourist paths. This scenic drive winds through rural Tanzania, revealing everyday life in vibrant villages, colorful roadside markets, and small family farms. Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the warm, spring-fed waters of Maji Moto. Swing from the iconic rope into the clear pool, unwind beneath leafy trees that filter golden sunlight, and savor authentic Tanzanian flavors—whether it’s chips mayai, a hearty serving of ugali, or a plate of local favorites prepared nearby. It’s a refreshing blend of relaxation, culture, and local charm.
