Zanzibar was known as the spice island, and exported cloves, vanilla, nutmeg and cardamom all over the world. The spices were brought from Asia and South America and thrived in the tropical climate. Today, the spice tour is one of the most popular excursions on the island. Walk through the spice plantation with your guide - touch, smell and taste different spices and try to guess which spice it is so you can remember it later. You can find everything from vanilla, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, turmeric, lemongrass, cloves, ginger, coriander, pepper, allspice, chili, curry and more. Then colleague will climb up the palm tree for us to harvest a coconut, inside which we can eat and drink juice and meat.
