About this experience

The Acropolis is more than a hill with the Parthenon on top. It was a cultural, healing and above all, religious center. In the middle ages, a place of pilgrimage to Virgin Mary, in the ottoman times, a muslim neighbourhood with a magnificent Mosque. A place of resistance in the Greek revolution of 1821 against the Ottoman Turks, and the Nazis in WWII.

The Acropolis of Athens is by far the most famous archaeological site in Greece. The whole history of Greece is written on this sacred hill. "Unearth" all the info with the help of a greek licensed tour guide/archaeologist by your side.

We usually say that ancient Greece is the cradle of western civilization. The Parthenon, the famous temple of Athena, is the epitome of this miracle.

Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

Our tour of the city of Athens starts from the Acropolis, the most important and famous archaeological site in Greece. Acropolis is a rocky hill on which the Parthenon is located, the most characteristic building of ancient Greek architecture, which according to mythology is dedicated to the goddess Athena, patroness of the city. At the entrance to the “sacred rock” of the Acropolis we find admirable monuments of the Golden Age of art in Athens, such as the Propylaia, the temple of Athena Nike (a work of Kallikrates) and the Erechtheion .

2
Stop 2

The tour continues at the Acropolis Museum, where finds from the Athenian Acropolis and its slopes are housed. There we have the opportunity to tour all the important exhibits (statues, vases, reliefs, etc.) and to notice that the route inside the museum resembles the climb to the Acropolis, as the route we follow takes place, for the most part, on a sloping floor.
