Our tour will start at the beautiful heart of Split, called the Riva. This is our living room — a place where we locals love to spend most of our time, living out a part of our culture: the art of doing nothing. We enjoy sitting for a coffee and talking for hours.
We will enter the substructure of Diocletian’s Palace. There, we will witness the passage of time and brilliant Roman architecture that showcases the engineering genius of the ancient world. The entire structure was designed to function as a natural cooling system for storing food supplies, water, wine, and olive oil.
The main square of the Emperor’s Palace is surrounded by majestic Egyptian columns and a sphinx. Nearby, there is a bell tower and an ancient Roman temple dedicated to the chief god, Jupiter.
The Golden Gate is the most recognized and luxurious entrance to the palace. It’s such a strategic approach. On the opposite side, we have the large statue of Gregory of Nin, created by the famous local sculptor Ivan Meštrović.
Our beautiful Venetian medieval square features a majestic Gothic city hall. Locally, it’s called the People’s Square, or “Pjaca.” We locals love this square; it’s packed with historical heritage.
We save the best for last: a local wine tasting featuring wines exclusively from this region. Croatian wines that I’m positive will literally blow your mind, accompanied by intriguing stories about the wines and their origins. Enjoy some local bites like prosciutto, cheese, olive oil, and bread.
We will meet you at your desired or prearranged location. Your driver or tour guide will have your name displayed on a sign or on their phone for easy recognition.
