About this experience

We will meet at the start of the tour in the central San Antonio square. There we will start a tour of the urban center of Santoña knowing its many frescoes of marine themed murals, its squares, streets and monuments.
The many seafaring murals we will find will tell us the history of Santoña and its fishing tradition. We will also visit places as noted as the palace and institute of Manzanedo.
But so much walking and knowing whet our appetites. Well, there is no better place than Santoña to try a skewer so northern, so Cantabrian, so Santoñés than the Gilda! We will visit three establishments in the town and in each we will taste 2 gildas accompanied by a wine, must or water.
The tour will conclude in the square of Manuel Andujar, commonly called in Santoña, del Peralvillo, where we will make our last gastronomic stop.

What's included

Throughout the tour we will stop at three hotel establishments in the town where we will taste, in each, 2 gildas with wine or water or soft drink

Detailed itinerary

1

We will start the tour at the foot of the temple in the center of the square. There, after welcoming the group, we will give the first data about our fishing village and this central square of the municipality

2

The 19th century Manzanedo Institute will be our first stage. A place always dedicated to teaching that attracts attention because of its neoclassical facade that hides some curiosity or other.

3

We continue with the legacy of the Marquis of Manzanedo with what was his residence in Santoña, a neoclassical palace of quadrangular plan, imitating the Roman domus. Today it is home to the Santoña city council.

4

This marine-inspired mural will be one of our artistic stages. The characters he depicts are inspired by the work of the Cantabrian writer José María de Pereda.

5

This will be our first gastronomic stop where we can taste our first gilda skewers accompanied by a wine or water or soft drink.

6

This square was the seat of the first town hall of Santoña, today is a historic place where we will see another mural fresco.

7

Second gastronomic stop where we will taste the anchovy in its purest state, fresh from the can accompanied by a wedge of cheese, a wine or water or soft drink.

8

Strolling along this street we will observe a curious mural fresco depicting the shops once present in this street. A different and original artwork

9

We will stop at this picturesque place in Santoña to observe the bustle of this square as well as a surprising sculptural complex in the center of it

10

Last gastronomic stop of the tour in which we will try two new gildas skewers accompanied by a wine or water or soft drink.
