We run a small studio within our residential apartment in Mumbai where we conduct a two-part guided tour.
The first part of the guided tour involves taking guests through the private collection of dolls, masks, and figurines. About 300 of these pieces are on display at the Studio. We talk about the historical, geographical, social, and cultural significance of the pieces and craft forms. We also talk about folk stories, legends, indigenous tribes, and textiles and share interesting anecdotes from our travels. Crafts form an intrinsic component of culture and given India's diverse heritage, this tour touches upon history, art, cultural norms, traditions, and beliefs.
The second part is a walkthrough of drawings on different themes - from motherhood to the explosiveness of the mind, isolation experienced during the recent pandemic, and drawings inspired by our travels through rural pockets of the country.
Our collection has been lauded by PM Narendra Modi's Office.
We run a small studio within our residential apartment where we conduct a two-part guided tour of Indian craft forms including dolls, figurines, and masks originating across India, several on the brink of extinction - explaining their cultural, religious, social, geographical, and historical significance. Around 300 artifacts are on display inside glass cabinets. Additionally, dolls from Japan, Iran, Nepal, Bhutan, Indonesia, and Ukraine among others are on display. We share interesting folk stories, legends, and trivia about local customs, indigenous tribes, and textiles as well as anecdotes from our travels.
The collection has been recognized by the Hon'ble PM Modi's Office and covered extensively by leading Indian dailies.
The meeting point is directly at our residential apartment where the guided tour takes place. It is a 15-minute drive from the Phoenix Palladium Mall in Lower Parel and 10 minutes from the Worli end of the Bandra- Worli Sea Link.
