About this experience
Today, Dubrovnik is one of the safest cities in the world. However, the historical archives of Dubrovnik hide many records of criminal cases from the past that we would like to share with you. This tour is entirely different than any other historic walking tour in the city because it speaks of another side of the history. It speaks of the people from the edge of society. It covers the number of stories about murders, conspiracies, usage of poisons, prostitutes and scandals, spies, witch trials and other devious things. It also discusses criminal justice which was more imaginative than in modern times. Executions, tortures, body mutilations, these are examples of typical punishments in cruel medieval times. After meeting in Dante Alighieri street in Pile, we will go straight to Gradac Park, where once the public executions were performed.

Before reaching the main street Stradun, we'll see the executioner's house, the old sinagogue and after Stradun we'll proceed to our end point in Rector's Palace.

In the Palace we will go through the old courtroom and the prison cells before ending in the atrium. After the tour you can continue to explore the Palace on your own to see our cultural-historical museum of Dubrovnik.

Our meeting point is in front of Sesame restaurant, in the street Ul. Dante Alighieri, located only 2-3 minutes away from Pile gate of the old city. From Pile bus stop, follow the main road leaving the old city. Stay on the left side of the street and you will easily find your guide.
