About this experience

Meet the dark side of Dubrovnik city on this 90-minutes long walking tour that starts in the twilight time near the main local graveyard. Follow your guide through the suburb of the Old city, while listening grim and sad tales, macabre legends and intriguing stories behind a number of historical places. We will meet at Boninovo, where the padlocks of love are hanging, with the beautiful view of the open sea. This is where the main cemetery of the city is located and nearby the cemetery, there is one intriguing palace from the 16th century reputed to be haunted.

We will walk through the dark park, infamous for the executions in the old times. We'll also see the old hospital and the location where the quarantine used to be.

Stop 3

We'll explore the suburb of Pile with beautiful forts of st. Lawrence and Bokar, known to serve as prisons on the past. We will also end our walk at Pile square by the fountain with the nymph and a satyr.

Meeting point

The tour starts in front of the main gate of Boninovo cemetery in the street Ulica između tri crkve.
If you follow the street from the Pile and walk uphill you should reach the meeting point after 15 minutes. Turn right next to the flower shop into the alley leading directly to the cemetery.
