About this experience
This 4 hour private tour will take you on a journey to discover the history of Santorini. Known for its beauty, the important history of Santorini is often overlooked. This tour will enlighten you with the rich history of the island, with the chance to explore the fantastic preserved prehistoric ruins of Akrotiri. You will have the chance to walk through the 4,000-year-old site, one of the most significant prehistoric settlements of the Aegean. You will have the opportunity to see how the old inhabitants of Akrotiri lived, and take a look at the unique paintings. End your tour with a trip to two local wineries of your choice, and sample 12 different wine styles paired with cheese and other snacks. A chance to enrich your historical knowledge of the island, we will visit the Akrotiri Archaeological Site, which has been characterised as one of the most significant prehistoric settlements of the Aegean Sea. Your private local archaeological guide will walk you through the historical ruins, you will learn about the rich history of Akrotiri, which is often referred to as “Pompeii of the Aegean”.

Visit 2 local wineries:
At this point you have the option to visit two local wineries of your choice, a taste of Santorini through wine. You can choose from a selection of local wineries with different qualities, the local driver will be able to help you decide the perfect winery of your desires. The wine tasting will provide you with a selection of 12 different wines. You will receive wine tasting tips from your English speaking wine expert and you will have the opportunity to walk through vineyards on the volcanic soils and discover the local techniques.
