The Western Wall is considered holy due to its connection to the Temple Mount. Because of the Temple Mount entry restrictions, the Wall is the holiest place where Jews are permitted to pray, though the holiest site in the Jewish faith lies behind it.
We're planning to explore the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, a truly remarkable destination. Our visit will provide us with insights into the significance of this site for followers of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.
After leaving the Temple Mount, our next stop will be the Via Dolorosa, the path Jesus walked carrying the heavy cross from the judgment site to Golgotha.
The Church of the Holy Sepulcher holds unparalleled significance as the holiest site for millions of Christians worldwide. It marks the exact location where Jesus was crucified, buried, and subsequently resurrected. In its early history during the Byzantine era, it was even more expansive and carried the name "The Resurrection Church," commemorating the pivotal event of Jesus' resurrection from the dead.
Following a brief interlude, our journey will resume as we tread upon the Cardo, a Roman-era thoroughfare that has endured for over two millennia.
Mount Zion is steeped in historical significance, and our visit will include stops at the Room of the Last Supper and King David's Tomb. If our schedule permits, we'll also explore the Dormition Abbey Church, traditionally believed to be the place where Mary, the mother of Jesus, peacefully "slept."
The Armenian presence in Jerusalem traces its roots back to the 4th century AD, coinciding with Armenia's adoption of Christianity as its national faith. During this period, Armenian monks established their residence in Jerusalem. Our itinerary includes a visit to an Armenian church, and if you're interested, you'll also have the option to explore an Armenian Pottery Shop.
We will meet just outside the gate.
