Start your day with a visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Your private tour guide and driver will pick you up early from your hotel to ensure you catch the pandas at their most active.
At the base, you'll walk through beautiful bamboo groves and see over 50 giant pandas playing, eating, and relaxing. Your guide will share interesting facts about the pandas and the conservation work done here. You'll also get to see red pandas. You will spend around 2-3h at the panda base.
After the visit to the Panda Base, we will embark on a 2.5-hour drive to Leshan. Upon arrival, we recommend enjoying a late lunch at one of the local restaurants (please note, lunch is not included in the package).
Upon arrival, you’ll visit the world’s largest stone Buddha statue, carved into a cliff face overlooking the confluence of three rivers. Your guide will share the fascinating history of this 71-meter-tall statue, built during the Tang Dynasty (1300 years ago) to calm the turbulent waters.
You have two options for exploring the area: a. Climb the mountain to reach the Giant Buddha, including a visit to Lingyun Temple and scenic trails offering various viewpoints of the Buddha. b. Take a short boat ride, which provides the best photo angle of the statue from the river.
After the visit, we’ll drive you back to Chengdu (2.5 hours), where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel, concluding your tour with unforgettable memories of this awe-inspiring monument.
