A monument that seamlessly merges ancient with contemporary history, Panathenaic Stadium is only a short drive from the Acropolis. Originally a racecourse of the 6th century BC, it hosted the Panathenaic Games (whole Athens Games), a religious and athletic festival in honor of the goddess Athena, to which its name is attributed. In the 4th century BC, the Athenian statesman built an 850-foot (250m) long stadium, with tiers of stone benches arranged around the track.
Panathenaic Stadium is widely known for the rebirth of the Modern Olympic Games, which were hosted in 1896 at its premises. On 6 April (25 March according to the Julian calendar then in use in Greece), the Games of the First Olympiad were officially opened; attended by 80,000 spectators.

Syntagma Square is the central square of Athens. The square is named after the Constitution (Syntagma) that Otto, the first King of Greece, was obliged to grant after a popular and military uprising on 3 September 1843. It is located in front of the 19th-century Old Royal Palace, housing the Greek Parliament since 1934. During our passing by, we may have the option for a photograph stop, should we coincide with the change of the presidential guard (the traditional "Tsoliades"), that takes place in front of the parliament. We will also pass by, in the comfort of our LIM Transport vehicles, the old parliament and the neoclassical architecture buildings of the University, the National Library, and the Academy.
