This all-inclusive single-day self-guided cycle adventure (around 4-5 hours riding) delivers the ultimate taste of the Otago Central Rail Trail as the trail winds through tunnels and over the Poolburn Viaduct.
Begin the adventure in Cromwell with a bike fitting and briefing. Then, take a shuttle (about an hour) to Auripo to start the day's cycling journey. Enjoy a gentle ride, perfect for families and those seeking a leisurely experience.
Cycle through the most stunning section of the Otago Central Rail Trail, the Poolburn Gorge, with a 37-meter high viaduct. Pass through two tunnels and a secluded gorge, where you can stop for a picnic lunch or snack.
Continue through the townships of Lauder, Omakau, and Chatto Creek, experiencing the famous Southern hospitality at delightful cafés and hotels along the way. Finish your ride in Clyde, where a shuttle will pick you up and return you to Cromwell (about half an hour).
