Detailed itinerary

1

Our first destination is the area of Marathon (75 minutes transportation from Athens), one of the most historic municipalities of ancient Greece. It became known from the heroic victory of the Greeks over the Persians (490 BC) during their first campaign to conquer Athens, the leading city-state of Ancient Greece. After the victorious outcome of the historic battles against the Persians, preventing the conquest of Ancient Greece by the Persian Empire, Greeks had the opportunity to thrive for three centuries, when they developed a remarkable civilization, on the basis of which Western civilization exists. We will visit the site where the famous and well-known battle of Marathon took place and, specifically, the cenotaph of the 192 Athenian soldiers killed in this triumph.

2

Visit the Marathon Run Museum to delve into the history of marathon races.
Through exhibits that span time and geography, you can learn about the evolution of this sport. See genuine memorabilia from legendary runners, ranging from their shoes to their medals. Interactive displays offer an inspiring look at a runner's experience. The visit is enhanced by a video presentation that brings key moments from historic races to life.
The Marathon Run Museum is not merely a visit, but a vivid journey through the enduring legacy of the authentic marathon.

3

Discover the mesmerizing Galazia Akti Beach in Schinias, an enchanting blend of natural beauty and historical significance.
Galazia Akti is the beach where the Persian soldiers once landed during the battle of Marathon (490 BC), a significant event in Greek history.
An idyllic stretch of pristine sands and clear, azure waters are perfect for a quiet beach day. Here you can walk along the beach, swim in the calm sea, or just relax under the sun. The beachfront bar and restaurant offer a variety of refreshing drinks and tasty local food, adding to your beach experience.
Galazia Akti is a beautiful spot for those looking for a relaxed and scenic seaside visit.

4

Our last destination is the Starting point of the Athens Classic Marathon Route.
Stand where thousands of marathon runners have set off, feeling the pulse of determination and endurance. This site, imbued with the spirit of legendary athletes, is where the thrilling 42.195-kilometer race begins. Experience a unique connection to the birthplace of marathon running, a symbol of human resilience and ambition.
On our return to Athens, we will follow the traditional 42.195-kilometer to the Panathinaikon Stadium (Kallimarmaro) in Athens (75 minutes return to Athens).
