Entry to the Basilica begins with a security screening conducted by the Italian State Police, located in the right hemicycle of St. Peter’s Square when facing the Basilica.

Pilgrims and prayer-goers can access the “Prayer Path”, marked with yellow signs, which is staffed for guidance. Visitors for general tours must pass through security at one of the other gates available for public access, where queues are managed by the Italian State Police.
