Upon arrival in Tiananmen Square, you can taking a leisurely stroll at this city square, you can see many famous buildings of the country such as the Monument to the People's Heroes, Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao, Great Hall of the People, and so on.
After walking through the square, we will come to the Forbidden City, the largest and most complete ancient wooden architectural complex in the world. Covered totally 72 hectares (178 acres), the whole city is rectangular and surrounded by a 12-meter-high (13 yards) and 3,400-meter-long (3,700 yards) red wall as well as a 52-meter-wide (57 yards) moat, together making the city secure against assault.
During the following 2 hours, your professional guide will lead you to visit the Forbidden City along the Central Axis. The Forbidden City is divided into two areas - the Outer Court and Inner Court. The former is for emperors to deal with state affairs and the latter is the area where emperors lived with their families.
The Outer Court mainly consists of three grand palaces: the Hall of Supreme Harmony for holding big ceremony like wedding and ascending ceremony, Hall of Central Harmony for emperors to have a rest before the ceremony, and Hall of Preserved Harmony for imperial banquets and final imperial examination presided over by the emperor. These palaces are all arranged along the Central Axis of the city.
Stepping into the Gate of Heavenly Purity, we will come to the Inner Court which centers Palace of Heavenly Purity, Hall of Celestial and Terrestrial Union, Palace of Earthly Tranquility. There are also six palaces on the West Wing and the other six on the East Wing. Together all these palaces formed the living area for royal families. Moreover, the beautiful artworks in the Gallery of Painting and Calligraphy will show the development of art in ancient China which will definitely impress you a lot.
This trip will come to an end after you leave from the Gate of Divine Prowess. You may get back to your hotel or go to Shichahai which is not far from the Forbidden City. Your guide will show you the directions.
