Experience the Giant Buddha of Leshan, one of Chinese Buddhism's holiest sites, on this amazing full-day tour from Chengdu.
Dating from the 8th century, the Giant Buddha of Leshan is the largest carved stone Buddha and the tallest pre-modern statue in the world. It was cut from the cliffs of Lingyun Shan in the hopes of calming the turbulent waters of the three rivers that flow together under its gaze. Stairs are carved into the cliff that connect the area at the Buddha's feet with the land above, allowing you to view this astonishing sight from a range of vantage points. Views are stunning over elbows and knees, taking in the river scene and Leshan's skyline.

Upon arrival in Leshan, we have lunch at a restaurant within sight the Giant Buddha. We'll then explore the Giant Buddha and enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding landscape from atop the Buddha's head.

Wen then pay a visit to Lingyun Temple and Museum and get a deeper insight into the history of this amazing Buddhist site and learn the story of the carving of the Giant Buddha.

4

Around 17:30pm, our guide will meet you at Jinli street and transfer to Huang cheng lao ma restaurant to have a hot pot dinner.

Sichuan hot pot is famous for being numbingly spicy thanks to the addition of Sichuan Pepper, which creates a tingly, numbing sensation on the tongue. Hot pot is a communal style of dining in which a large pot of broth, often divided into spicy and mild sides, sits in the middle of the table. Diners are served platters full of thinly sliced mutton and beef, vegetables and mushrooms, noodles and doufu, shrimp and fishballs. Diners select their favorite raw ingredients and toss them into the pot, letting them cook in the boiling broth before pulling them out and enjoying.

5

8:00 p.m. Shufengyayun Tea House, enjoy the show with the vip seat and lasts for 90 minutes.
Sichuan opera is traditionally enjoyed in a tea house, where the audience can relax with tasty snacks and hot tea while enjoying the performance. Sufengyayun Tea House is one of Chengdu's best, located in the Chengdu Culture Park near Qingyang Palace, a famous Taoist abbey, Wuhou Ancestral Temple and Dufu Cottage.

The building is in the style of Sichuan's rustic Old West Shu Country. You'll be in for a treat, as the ancient Chinese dramatic art of bian lian (face changing) is a highlight of the show. Performers wear brightly colored costumes and move to quick, dramatic music. Their faces are hidden by vividly colored masks... and in a fraction of a second, the masks change, revealing completely new faces--joy can turn to fear and then anger in a matter of seconds as the dramatic music, song and dance transcends cultural barriers.
