The interior of the building is stunning! With incredible granite throughout, and amazing sculptures and woodwork.
There is also a souvenir shop across the street, where tourists can buy Utah themed items.
Twice a year, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gather for what is called General Conference. The leaders of the church and many local members as well as other members from around the world come together in the Conference center.
Some interesting facts about this building:
- This building is the largest theater-style auditorium ever built.
- The main auditorium is large enough to hold a Boeing 747.
- There are 60 interpreting booths that translate the conferences into 92 different languages. Second only to the United Nations.
- There are 7,667 pipes in the organ ranging from 3/4 inch tall to 40 feet tall, but only 170 can be seen by the audience.
- The chandelier in the hall is three stories tall.
- The building contains a rooftop garden.
We will end at City Creek Mall. This mall has a natural creek running through it. Two outdoor levels of shops. A food court, and fountain. A skybridge going over State Street, and lots more.
