Detailed itinerary

1

Visit the world renowned contemporary folk art exhibition consisting of concrete sculptures by artist Veijo Rönkkönen. His hard work over 50years resulted in about 550 concrete statues and a magnificent garden. The young Veijo Rönkkönen was known to be very guarded. Art making was his way of communicating with the outside world; he did not dare to venture out into the world but instead invited the world to come and see him. Thousands of visitors visit the park each year. Free entry. Note that the American press has listed the Parikkala Sculpture Park among the scariest places in the world-visit and decide for yourself!

The duration includes 1hour drive to the park.

2

Take a self-guided tour of the Finnish Forest Museum Lusto which offers surprising insights and different perspectives of forests. Immerse yourself in forest culture in the Punkaharju national landscape. Lusto’s exhibitions, collections, events, work demonstrations and theme days provide a diverse and illustrative insight into the significance of forests in the life of Finns.
The national museum responsible for forest culture is located in Punkaharju, in the midst of the most beautiful landscape of ridges and lakes in Eastern Finland.
Once finished we head over to the fabulous restaurant for lunch.

Duration includes 45min drive time to Museum.

3

After the museum visit we head over to the Museo Restaurant Lusto. The restaurant by award-winning chef Ilkka Lääveri serves food in a wonderful setting, in the middle of the most beautiful eastern Finnish ridge and lake nature. The restaurant is located next to the Finnish Forest Museum Lusto in Punkaharju. The ingredients are sourced locally and the menu features delicacies for lunch, dinner or for a snack. Vegan options are always available and almost everything on the menu is already gluten-free and lactose-free. You select the food options that you prefer from a three-course set menu or A-la-carte.

4

Punkaharju esker ridge has been an internationally known tourist destination already for two hundred years due to the natural beauty of its landscape. It is one of Finland's national landscapes and the beautiful lake views seen between its majestic pines are still the biggest attraction of the area. We will drive along the ridge road famed for being one of the most beautiful drives in the world and stop at some viewpoints for pictures and walk on some trails (time and weather dependent).
