Thanks to an expert guide (not included/on request) you will be accompanied inside the archaeological excavations for a duration of 2h or you will visit the excavations independently. The guide will show you the main attractions of the excavations which remained intact following the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. In Pompeii, you cannot miss a visit to the Civil Forum where the daily life of the inhabitants took place as inside this large square you can take souvenir photos with Vesuvius behind you. When the tour ends, you can head towards the new Pompeii and stroll along the streets until you arrive in Piazza Bartolo Longo and admire the beauty of the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Pompeii (1h).

3

After the visit to the city of Pompeii you will be accompanied to Paestum (journey about 1h.20), a city founded by the Greeks around 600 BC. Initially it was called Poseidonia, in honor of Poseidon or Neptune, god of the sea. Later from 400 BC. it was occupied by the Lucan population and, in 273, it became a Roman colony and took the name of Paestum.

4

Before reaching the archaeological excavations of Paestum, we will make a brief stop at one of the local dairies to taste the 'buffalo mozzarella'

5
Stop 5

The city, whose entire extension is known, has only been partially brought to light through archaeological excavations. Bordered by imposing walls, it exhibits the main buildings along the Roman cardo line: to the north is the temple of Athena from around 500. B.C. The public area extends in the center, dating back to two distinct periods: the Ecclesiasterion of the 5th century BC overlooked the agora of the Greek city. and an important building in the shape of a chapel. The Roman city, on the other hand, had its forum here, with the comitium (for assembly meetings), the temple of the Capitoline Triad (Capitolium), the basilica; behind the forum stood the amphitheater and a Hellenistic gymnasium with a large swimming pool. To the south was the large urban sanctuary of Hera, with two magnificent temples dedicated to the goddess, the so-called "Basilica", dating back to around 540. BC, and the one called "of Neptune", from 460 BC
