Livraria Lello (formerly Livraria Chardron, 1869-1919) is a Portuguese bookstore and publishing house whose headquarters are located at 144 Rua das Carmelitas, in the historic center of Porto. Classified as a Monument of Public Interest and in the process of becoming a National Monument, Livraria Lello preserves the original beauty of its building.
The Palácio da Bolsa, or Palácio da Associação Comercial do Porto, a neoclassical building, began to be built on October 6, 1842, the solemn date of the laying of the first stone, given the closure of the Casa da Bolsa do Comércio, which forced Portuguese traders to discuss their business in the open air.
The Porto Cathedral is a Romanesque-Gothic building from the 12th and 13th centuries, which underwent major renovations in the Baroque period (17th-18th centuries). Inside, it still retains the appearance of a fortress church, with battlements. Of particular note is the beautiful rose window (12th century) and the loggia or side galilee (1736), the work of Nicolau Nasoni, facing the city. Next to the doors are monumental holy water fonts from the late 17th century. Next to the 17th century baptismal font, there is a bas-relief by Teixeira Lopes (Father).
