About this experience

Over 100 years ago, this area was known as the Wild, Wild West! The miners, of the Techatticup Mine, produced millions of dollars in gold and silver. Both, hard working folk and shady characters roamed the town, often engaging in debaucherous activities. The ghost town, now known as Nelson, buzzed with activity as prospectors sought out their fortunes. Today, this area is one of Nevada's most popular destinations for history buffs and adventure seekers alike. The mine and ghost town are nestled within the beautiful El'Dorado Wilderness, a magnet for photographers and movie producers! Hollywood has filmed many blockbusters there, including "3000 Miles to Graceland"!

As noted, the shore of the Colorado River is minutes away. Here, we'll set up camp! The Jeeps will be equipped with a roof top tent or SUV tent. We pack the Jeeps full of everything you'll need for a funfilled day on the river!

What you'll see

The ultimate Off Road Jeep Tour at the El Dorado Mine and Ghost Town! This off road adventure starts in the old mining town of Nelson. As a matter of fact, many say it's haunted! You'll pick up your Jeep at our location, then we'll make our way to Nelson. By the way, you'll be navigating the trails in your own Jeep. Don't worry, we'll be right in front of you in the guide Jeep. When we arrive in Nelson, we'll head up the Nelson Rollercoaster trail and break off to check out some ancient petroglyphs! These petroglyphs are estimated to be more than 10,000 years old. You won't believe it, but there was a lake here at the time! There are dry lake beds to prove it. Next, we'll head down the Oro Plata Mine Trail and stop at the Oro Plata Mine to check out what the miners left behind. You might find some gold in the glistening rocks in and around the mine! Finally, we'll take the Jeeps down some waterfalls. These waterfalls don't have any water. They're all rock. On this part of the trail, you'll experience what you can do in these Jeeps! At last, our final stop is the ghost town and Techatticup Mine! (tickets for the mine are sold separately). Get details at El Dorado Canyon Mine Tours.
