A completely different tour to the summit of Brazil's most iconic mountain!
Instead of taking the cable car, we'll reach the 396-meter (1,299 ft) peak of Sugarloaf Mountain via a trail and an easy climbing section - always with stunning views of the city!
This route was first conquered in 1817 by the Englishwoman Henrietta Carstairs, and now in 2024, you can follow in her footsteps!
With full support from a guide certified by the Ministry of Tourism, trained in climbing and wilderness first aid, all safety gear certified, and personal insurance for each participant!
Sugarloaf Mountain awaits you for this breathtaking nature experience.
Ready for this adventure?
Note: This is an advanced-level hike and requires physical fitness. Please make sure you are fit for the activity before booking.
Note: The tour always departs in the afternoon, as the route is in the shade at that time. In the morning, there's too much sun and a higher risk of heat exhaustion.
We will meet at the designated meeting point and from there we will begin a light walk along Pista Cláudio Coutinho, where we will be able to see Sugarloaf Mountain and the Sugarloaf Mountain Natural Park from below. After about 10 minutes, we will begin a dirt trail with some rocks and then we will begin the climb up a rocky cliff where we can see the other side of the city, Guanabara Bay, the mountain range and the city of Niterói . We will continue the climb to the base of the climbing section. Here we will equip ourselves with all the necessary equipment to pass the bid. The guide will go ahead and one at a time will go up. We will then proceed to the next stop: Pedra Filosofal, a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the beaches of Leme and Copa and the city's mountains. From there we will attack the summit and we can relax by drinking coconut water and having a snack at the summit. And we will go down by cable car to Morro da Urca, where we will take a small trail to return to the starting point.
