About this experience

Larnaca, known in the ancient times as ‘Kition,’ was one of the most important Kingdoms of the island and birthplace of the philosopher Zenon, founder of the movement of Stoicism in Athens. Saint Lazarus is the patron saint of the city with an imposing church dedicated to him, which is only a short distance from the old ottoman fort. From certain facets in the center of the city, one can notice how the east meets the west between minarets and bell towers.

Located in its own square in the centre of town, the magnificent stone church of Agios Lazaros is one of the most remarkable examples of Byzantine architecture in Cyprus and lies over the tomb of the saint.
